Lebanese PM, president condemn bombing of UNIFIL patrol

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned a bombing attack on UNIFIL forces in southern Lebanon earlier Friday, saying that Lebanon and its people stand in solidarity with the UNIFIL troops.
"These crimes don't only target the international (peacekeeping) forces but also the security and stability of all Lebanon and the South," Mikati said. He added that "Lebanon, as a state and people, are in solidarity with the international forces and condemn attacks against them," Lebanese newspaper the Daily Star reported.
Lebanese President Michel Suleiman alleged that the attack was designed to force UNIFIL's withdrawal from the country and to obstruct its work in the South, according to the report.
