Opposition leader Tzipi Livni on Wednesday called on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to intervene in order to solve the contract workers' labor dispute and bring an end to the general strike that began Wednesday morning.
"Israel cannot be a society of different classes," Livni stated. "The time has come in Israel for employees to set out to work and live with dignity and not live in poverty," she added.
"The contract workers can be employed while still leaving managerial flexibility that will enable the granting of good and efficient services to the citizens of Israel."
