Magen David Adom’'s friends' organization in the United Kingdom has launched an online petition to demand that captive Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit be visited immediately by the International Red Cross. The 24-year-old soldier, held by Hamas terrorists in Gaza for over four years, has never had such a visit, which is a denial of his basic human rights.

"We don’t want to get involved in politics (other organization do this well)– we merely want to make sure the Palestinians and the world respect Gilad's human rights," the organization writes on its special website at www.mdavisitshalit.org.

In the last few days, 1,000 people have already signed, but the UK-based organization hopes to hit 10,000 signatories in the next two weeks, according to Yoni Yagodovsky, director of MDA'’s international department in Tel Aviv.
