Chairman of the Islamic Movement in Ramle, Ali Al-Danaf was shot on Saturday and is in critical condition, according to Channel 12.

In his role as chairman, Al-Danaf was reportedly involved in the religious, social and educational activities of the Muslim community in Ramle, in central Israel.
Al-Danaf was taken to Yitzhak Shamir Medical Center, Israeli media reported earlier Saturday morning.

The police are investigating the incident and it is not yet clear if the shooting was related to his involvement in the Muslim community, Channel 12 reported.
