Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal proclaimed an Israeli ground attack on Gaza would be a "political disaster" for Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.

Speaking at a press conference in Cairo, Mashaal said that while Hamas is aware Israel is "capable" of a ground attack, it would not "be a picnic, but a political disaster" for Netanyahu.

Mashaal added that if Israel wants a truce, it must initiate the ceasefire as it started the war.

"After six days of the offensive, the number of those killed is nearly 100. Today our enemies hands are tainted with our blood," Mashaal stated.
