May's Conservatives hold 19 point lead in Opinium UK election poll

LONDON, April 22- Theresa May's Conservative party held a 19 percentage point lead over Labour in a poll by research group Opinium on Saturday, helped by a slide in support for the main opposition party and the anti-EU group UKIP ahead of a June election.
According to an online poll of 2,003 voters carried out on April 19 and 20, some 45 percent of voters said they would vote for the ruling Conservative party, up 7 percent on last week and before May called a national election for June 8.
Support for Labour stood at 26 percent, down 3 percentage points, while UKIP, a key force in steering Britain to vote to leave the European Union, were down 5 points at 9 percent. The Liberal Democrats edged up 4 points to 11 percent.
