Mexico arrests ex-convict in killing of Canadian

ACAPULCO, Mexico — An ex-convict has been arrested in the killing of a Canadian businessman who worked in Acapulco with a company that employed inmates to make bags from recycled materials.
Guerrero state investigative police director Fernando Monreal says Hector Figueroa confessed to beating Daniel Dion to death after the two had been drinking and arguing.
Monreal says Figueroa then put Dion's body in the trunk of the Canadian's rental car and set it on fire.
The body was found Oct. 31, a week after Dion's family reported him missing.
Monreal says Figueroa began working with Dion when he was an inmate serving time for homicide. After his release, Figueroa continued helping Dion with logistics and acting as a liaison with prisoners.
