Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent an emissary to inquire if Labor Chairman MK Avi Gabbay would join his government in return for dropping the immunity law and the clause that allows the Knesset to pass legislation that contradicts a Basic Law. Gabbay rejected this request.
This is seen as an unexpected request as Netanyahu is struggling to form a coalition.
