OECD leader backs Israel raising taxes on oil, gas findings

Jose Angel Gurria, secretary general of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), who is visiting in Israel this week, was scheduled to meet with President Shimon Peres today and to participate in the weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem.
On Saturday night, during an event held in his honor in Jerusalem, Gurria presented his unequivocal position in favor of Israel raising taxes on oil and gas discoveries.
"It is absolutely legitimate that all Israeli citizens benefit from the wealth that belongs to the nation," Gurria said.
