Former prime minister Ehud Olmert on Sunday stated that a genuine desire for peace can give the IDF leeway for military action.

Speaking at the Jerusalem Post Conference in New York, "when you are genuine about making peace, you will gain the world's support," he said, adding that Israel had it during the Lebanon war and during Operation Cast Lead.

Olmert also defended former heads of Israeli security services, saying that people like Yuval Diskin and Meir Dagan are not enemies of the state of Israel.
