PA President Abbas hospitalized for exhaustion

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has been hospitalized for exhaustion, according to a statement by his spokesman, Nabil Abu Radeina.
Palestinian sources told Ma'ariv, the sister publication of the Jerusalem Post, that Abbas is "suffering from exhaustion because he finished his visit in China and flew back at 3:00 a.m. on Friday morning and went from Amman directly to Ramallah. Then he held an emergency meeting to discuss the issue of the al-Aksa crisis, and this has made it very difficult."
The spokesman noted that Abbas is undergoing medical evaluations and should be discharged from the hospital within the next few hours.
Should the president of the Palestinian Authority become ill and is unable to fulfill his duties the position is taken by the  Palestinian Legislative Council speaker, which is currently Aziz Duwaik, until elections can be held.
