The gunman who opened fire on a group of Israelis at Joseph's Tomb in Nablus on Sunday is a Palestinian Authority police officer, Palestinian officials told the IDF Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT).
The police officer told investigators in the Palestinian security forces that he identified "suspicious" individuals and fired at them, the IDF said on Sunday morning.
Senior IDF officials were expected to hold a meeting with Palestinian officials to clarify the incident, the IDF said.
