Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu intervened at the last minute on Wednesday to lower the tax on gas by 10 agurot, hours before a price hike on fuel was slated to go into effect.

As a result, the price of 95 octane fuel will hit NIS 7.74 per gallon Wednesday at midnight.

The Finance Ministry has been tasked with finding alternative funds for dealing with the rising price of gas.
