Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Thursday sent a letter praising Pope Benedict XVI for reiterating that the Jewish people are not responsible for Jesus' death in a new book that was released Wednesday.

"I thank you for rejecting, in your new book, the false claims that have formed a basis of hatred against Jews for many years, "Netanyahu wrote.

The Prime Minister also offered to meet again with Pope: "I hope that the courage you showed will strengthen the relations between Jews and Christians around the world and help promote peace and reconciliation for future generations."
