Gaza-based terrorist group the Popular Resistance Committees denied Israeli claims that it was behind the firing of a Katyusha rocket from the Sinai Peninsula at Eilat earlier this month, Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported Saturday.

"The Israeli accusations reflect malicious goals seeking to justify possible targeted assassinations against Jihad fighters,” Ma'an quoted PRC spokesman Abu al-Hasan as telling reporters in Gaza.

Hasan stated that the Israeli accusations could be an attempt to pave the way for a possible IDF offensive against Gaza.
