Petah Tikva teens arrested for assaulting elderly man

Petah Tikva police on Tuesday arrested two teens, aged 17, suspected of attacking an 80-year-old in a public park in the city two weeks ago.
Sharon sub-district police said Tuesday that about two weeks ago, the man was sitting on a bench at a public park on Friedman street in the city when he saw two teenagers jumping around on a gazebo and damaging the structure. The man went up to the teens and told them to stop because they were causing damage, police said, at which point one of the teens punched him in face, causing him to lose consciousness and fall to the ground, breaking his hip.
A passerby chased off the two teens and called an ambulance and took the man to a hospital, where he spent two weeks in treatment.
Petah Tivka police set up a special task force to investigate the crime and by Tuesday were able to arrest two teens, who were taken into custody on Tuesday.
Police said both teens have confessed to the crime.
