Prison guard arrested for sex crimes against male prisoner

An Israel Prison Services officer accused of sexually assaulting a male prisoner was ordered kept in custody for two days, after appearing in court for the first time on Tuesday.

The officer, a 33-year-old from Northern Israel with the rank of Captain, is accused of using his position to sexually assault the prisoner, and could face charges of sexual assault, extortion, and breach of trust.

The case against the officer began after the police LAHAV 433 unit received a complaint from the IPS, asking them to investigate the inmate’s allegations.

On Monday the man was arrested and hours later the IPS said that they will start a termination process against the officer due to the findings of the investigation.
