Pro- and anti-Saleh army factions clash in Yemen

SANAA - Presidential guards loyal to Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh clashed in the town of Mukalla on Thursday with army units backing opposition groups and protesters demanding his ouster.
A local government source said a colonel had been wounded but it was not clear which side he was on. Mukalla is in Hadramout province in east Yemen on the sea coast.
General Ali Mohsen, commander of the northwestern zone, said earlier this week he was now supporting protesters who have been demonstrating for weeks for democracy and want Salehs to leave after three decades in power.
