MOSCOW - Russia said on Wednesday that foreign criticism of the trial and sentencing of three members of punk band Pussy Riot for a protest against President Vladimir Putin in a church is biased and politically motivated.

"The case ... has served only as an occasion for the latest wave of rushed, biased and politically charged evaluations," Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said in a statement.
