Salafi Beduin group takes responsibility for Eilat attack

10 days after rockets landed on the outskirts of Eilat, a group called "Ansar Beit Al-Muqdas" claimed responsibility for the attack, Channel Two reported on Saturday.

The rockets did not cause any damage or injury, but came in the wake of growing unrest in the Sinai peninsula, including an attack on Egyptian security forces that left 16 security personnel dead.Since the attack on its military installation, Egypt has been engaged in an operation to pacify the restive region, which is resentful of the government in Cairo for decades of neglect, and Egyptian security forces have engaged in sporadic gun battles with Sinai militants.

Egyptian Defense Minister Al-Sisi suggested last week to Al-Masry Al-Youm that in addition to forcefully restoring order in the region, the government is prepared to pay the Beduin to hand over their weapons.
