Schalit to be released from IDF with rank of sgt.-maj.

Gilad Schalit was expected to be released from the IDF on Wednesday, six months after being released from Hamas captivity in the Gaza Strip. Having been promoted while in captivity, Schalit will be released with the rank of sergeant-major, Army Radio reported.
IDF Manpower Division officials visited Schalit at his home in Mitzpe Hila on Tuesday to complete his release paperwork. As a result, the soldier will not need to arrive at an IDF induction base to make his release official.
