Soldier accused of unlawful killing in Gaza reaches plea

A soldier from the IDF's Givati Brigade accused of unlawfully killing two women during Operation Cast Lead is expected to plead guilty to the illegal use of firearms as part of a deal under which he will serve 45 days in prison, Army Radio reported on Sunday.

In the UN-commissioned Goldstone Report, the soldier known as S. was accused of illegally killing a woman and her daughter in Gaza.

The defendant's lawyers successfully proved to the Military Advocate-General that the shooting did not cause the women's deaths and that they took place at different times.
