October 26, 2010 07:37

Finance Minister Yuval Steinetz noted that the yeshiva stipend clause has been in the state budget for the past 30 years, including through the Kadima government, on Army Radio Tuesday morning.

Steinetz said that there are two sides to the issue: "On the one hand, the haredim have to be encouraged to enter the work force, but on the other hand this clause has been in the budget for 30 years." He said that if the issue is not legislated in accordance with the High Court ruling by the end of the year, that the funds will not be distributed.
