The United Nations Security Council passed a resolution authorizing a no-fly zone over Libya on Thursday.

UNSC Resolution 1973 was adopted with 10 countries voting in favor, none opposing it and with five abstentions.

The resolution authorizes the establishment of a no-fly zone, of safe areas, and the protection of the Libyan people and foreign citizens.
