US sends firefighting team, supplies to Carmel region

WASHINGTON  — Obama administration officials said Friday that the US is sending firefighters and supplies to Israel to help with efforts to extinguish the fires that were raging in the North.
Nancy Lindborg, an official of the US Agency for International Development, said a three-person team of expert firefighters is already on its way and should arrive during the weekend.
At Israel's request, the US is sending 45 metric tons of fire retardant and 12,000 liters of foam. It is also trying to fulfill Israel's request for more aircraft.
