Yishai: Eritreans who come to Israel may be jailed

Eritreans must not see Israel as a destination, and might find themselves in jail should they come, Interior Minister Eli Yishai told Eritrean ambassador Tesfamariam Tekeste Debbas in a Sunday meeting.

Yishai asked Debbas to convey the sentiment to his fellow countrymen during their discussion of Israel's refugee problem, in which they talked over ways to cooperate to, in Yishai's words, "ensure the dignity [of the migrants], yet concomitantly maintain Israel's dignity as a Jewish state."
