Netanyahu offers job to UN interpreter who assailed UN hypocrisy on Israel in open microphone

Interpreter wondered aloud why Israel was being treated unfairly.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu offered a nameless UN interpreter a job if she is fired from her UN position for saying in an open microphone that the world body treats Israel unfairly.
On Thursday, during a General Assembly committee’s adoption of nine anti- Israel resolutions, the interpreter wondered out loud and into the microphone that went into the headphones of the delegates in the hall, as well as to anyone watching online, why it was that Israel was singled out when there were so many other ills around the globe.
“I mean I think when you have five statements, not five, but like a total of 10 resolutions on Israel and Palestine, there’s gotta be something, c’est un peu trop, non? [It’s a bit much, no?] I mean I know, yes, yes, but there’s other really bad shit happening, but no one says anything about the other stuff.”
Chuckles were heard in the hall for about a second, before the interpreter – who obviously realized that what she said went out live – offered “apologies.”
The secretary of the meeting said, “I understand there was a problem with the interpretation,” to which the interpreter said: “Interpreter apologies.”
Netanyahu, who played the brief clip for the cabinet at its weekly meeting on Sunday, said that this was a rare moment of pleasure for Israel in an international setting.
“I hope nothing bad happens to the interpreter, but in order to remove all doubt I can say that a place of employment is assured her in Israel if things go in that direction,” he said.
“Sometimes the veil of hypocrisy over the incessant attacks against us is ripped off, and this interpreter did that,” he added.
