The base briefly ordered a lockdown of the facility, according to its Facebook page, before reporting that a suspect had been taken into custody, no shots were fired and the base was no longer locked down.
An official at the base confirmed that an armed person was taken into custody but declined to provide further details.
On Friday, a Saudi Air Force lieutenant being trained at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida, shot and killed three people and wounded eight on the base in a suspected terrorist attack. The Saudi officer was fatally shot by a deputy sheriff.
The Corpus Christi base said on Wednesday there was no indication the incident there was related to the Florida shooting.On Dec. 4, a U.S. Navy sailor shot dead two civilians working at Hawaii's historic military base of Pearl Harbor and wounded a third before turning his gun on himself. No motive has been determined.
