Facebook user questioned by police for insulting Likud MK Regev with slur

Gili Golan was summoned to a Netanya police station after posting an insulting remark in response to Regev's criticism of Shimon Peres.

Likud MK Miri Regev filed a complaint with police this week against an Internet user who posted an insulting remark on her Facebook page in response to her criticism of former president Shimon Peres.
Gili Golan, an executive at a television production company, was summoned to a Netanya police station on Tuesday after Regev submitted a complaint over a slur he posted on her Facebook page.
Regev drew the ire of Golan and other Facebook users after the Likud lawmaker posted a status in which she criticized Peres for the former president's remark that the Gaza operation "had exhausted itself."

"In light of former president Peres's statements that the Gaza operation has exhausted itself, I say that it is Peres who has exhausted himself," Regev wrote in a Facebook post dated July 30. "With all due respect to Peres, the State of Israel must work toward a military victory."
The post elicited thousands of responses, including one from Golan, who angrily replied that Regev was "a filthy whore."
Golan took to Facebook on Tuesday, informing users that he had been questioned by police for insulting a public official.
"Miri Regev insulted Shimon Peres in public, saying that 'his time has passed'," Golan wrote on his Facebook page. "I responded that she was 'a filthy whore.' I do not take back what I said, and I stand behind it 100 percent."
Golan said he was questioned and then freed on NIS 5,000 bond. Police have ordered Golan to refrain from communicating with Regev for a period of 14 days.

Golan ended his post with a sarcastic appeal to Regev. "Miri Regev, you're a sweetheart, a kind, effeminate soul," he wrote. "I bow down to you, and I love you. Next time, call me and we'll solve this issue between the two of us. What are you running to the police for? I'm offended. Now, I'm angry with you, and after the 14-day period, you won't be hearing from me."
