Two Jewish candidates in the Canadian federal election appeared before a court to challenge the chief electoral officer’s decision to schedule the upcoming national vote on Shemini Atzeret.
Smolow, of Great Neck, N.Y., has been active with Hadassah for 39 years and served as the group’s national secretary before becoming its president.
“It is time that instead of Israel receiving from the Diaspora, we should be giving... We are increasing [funding by] tens of millions of dollars, but it is not enough: We need to do more,” he said.
