“Divesting from any company that supports Iran and ensuring that students are able to attend Jewish Day Schools safely is of utmost importance,” Florida Governor DeSantis said.
“This decision was not made lightly, as Brandeis is dedicated to upholding free speech principles,” the university wrote in its letter, which the Jewish Telegraphic Agency obtained.
Brandeis told the student group that open support for Hamas was a violation of the school's principles. SJP called the decision "purely racist."
The ADL partnered on the letters with the Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law, a pro-Israel legal group.
The organizations emphasized the importance of ensuring that Jewish students "feel safe and free from harassment," and discrimination on campus.
Students for Justice in Palestine supported Hamas's invasion of Israel, lauding the terrorist attacks as a “historic win”.
Anti-Israeli Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) movement displays its one-sided bias against Israel, Jonathan Greenblatt, the National Director of the Anti-Defamation League, warns.
The week-long campaign is planned by Students for Justice in Palestine and The Resource Center, an office at Wesleyan University.
Sarai Idan held a poster that had "BDS is BS: BDS hurts Palestinians" in bold and walked around trying to have a conversation with the group.
