Clashes broke out in the West Bank village of Shweika Sunday night as IDF troops searched the village after a Palestinian gunman, 23-year-old Ashraf Walid Suleiman Na'alw killed two Israeli citizens and injured a third earlier in the day.
Troops arrived at the home belonging to Na'alwa during which troops from the Menashe regional brigade mapped his home ahead of a possible demolition and interrogated and arrested several suspects, including reportedly his brother.
They were transferred to the Shin Bet security service in order to establish whether or not they knew of the plans to carry out the shooting.
During the clashes Palestinians threw Molotov cocktails and rocks at troops. There were no injuries reported.
"The IDF and Shin Bet security forces will continue to work to capture the terrorist and to protect the security of the residents in the area, while increasing the operational and intelligence efforts," read a statement released by the IDF Spokesperson's Unit.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eisenkot toured the Barkan factory where the attack occurred earlier in the day. Eisenkot held a situational assessment with the head of the Central Command, Maj. Gen. Nadav Padan, after which it was decided to send additional troops from the central command and Samaria Brigade to the area.
The victims of the attack were identified as 29 year-old Kim Levengrond Yehezkel of the central Israeli city of Rosh Ha’ayin and 35 year-old Ziv Hajbani from Rishon Letzion.
Na'alwa had no previous security-related history. He had a permit to work at the Barkan park, where he was employed at a factory for the past seven months as an electrician, though he had not shown up work for the past few weeks.
