El Al, Israel's national airline, is expanding its routes in Portugal. After Lisbon, the airline will now operate flights to Porto, the second destination in Portugal. These flights will be operated by Sun D'or, El Al's subsidiary.
Sun D'or will operate two weekly flights to Porto, on Mondays and Wednesdays, adding to the up to 6 weekly flights El Al operates to Lisbon. This allows flexibility in holiday bookings with the option to combine destinations. The first flight is scheduled for June 24, 2024. Ticket prices start at $389 for a round-trip ticket in the Lite class.
The addition of the second destination in Portugal comes after Sun D'or added two new routes to the Greek islands last week, as reported by Walla Tourism - Kalymnos and Karpathos. The reopening of the route is made possible thanks to an agreement recently signed by El Al with the Lithuanian company KLASJET to lease two of its planes.
A few months ago, Sun D'or had to adjust its flight schedule and cancel the route to Porto due to a shortage of available aircraft caused by the prolongation of the conflict and its impact on the aviation market. Now, thanks to the agreement with Klasjet, Sun D'or is reintroducing the destination to its summer 2024 schedule.
The company will allow all customers whose flight was changed from Porto to Lisbon to change back to the original destination (Porto) at no extra cost.
Sun's flight schedule for summer 2024 includes destinations such as Rhodes, Thessaloniki, Kalymnos, and Karpathos (Greece), Batumi and Tbilisi (Georgia), Larnaca and Paphos (Cyprus), Warsaw and Krakow (Poland), Tivat (Montenegro), and Chisinau (Moldova).
