Abbas condemns closure of the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem

 Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas condemned the closure of the entrance to the Al-Aqsa mosque compound in Jerusalem through the Gate of Mercy.
On Tuesday he said, "We hold the government of Israel fully responsible for this deterioration and and warn Israel against continuing this policy and harming of our people, which leads to sometimes violent reactions.
On Monday, this entrance was closed for three hours, after worshipers tried to forcefully enter the compound and were arrested by the police.
