ACRI: Israel favors settlers over Palestinians in W.Bank

ACRI accused Israel on Wednesday of giving a preferential treatment to settlers over Palestinians in the West Bank, and of applying different standards of law to each group.

In response to the Levy Report, attorney Tamar Feldman, director of ACRI's Human Rights in the Occupied Territories Department, said that the report's conclusions completely and deliberately ignore the Palestinian population in the West Bank.

"A state that conquers territories is required by international law to care for and protect the rights of the local population. What is actually happening in the West Bank is the complete opposite of that," Feldman said.

"The situation in the West Bank is not normal or legal and any attempt to legalize or 'normalize' it is a danger to legalism in the State of Israel," she added.
