A prisoner was found unconscious in his cell in Shata prison on Thursday, according to the Israel Prison Service. Resuscitation efforts were made and he was transferred to the hospital where he was later declared dead.
The prisoner was serving a nine-year sentence on charges of severe bodily injury and possession of drugs and a knife.
