Cases of the BA.4 coronavirus subvariant were confirmed in Russia on Sunday, Kamil Khafizov, a scientist at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology in Moscow, told reporters, according to Russian state media reports.
According to the reports, Khafizov attributed 95% of all new infections to the BA.2 subvariant, adding though that the BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants are more easily transmissible.
