Dudu Laniado, a candidate in the Likud primaries, was convicted on Wednesday for breaking into homes and for assaulting a woman.
Laniado was put into house arrest in 2010 following a complaint filed by the woman but he violated the terms of the arrest and arrived at her home and attacked her and a police office who arrived to arrest him.
The woman in question stated "There is a campaign of persecution against Dudu. We are the best of friends and there has never been any violence. He is a most worthy person and a media witch hunt is being conducted against him."
