Shooting targets IDF near Ofra, no injuries reported

The terrorist was shot and killed by IDF soldiers after a short chase and a firefight.

A Palestinian terrorist fired an IDF post near the Ofra settlement, north of Beit El, on Wednesday afternoon, in the third such attack in a week near the settlement.

No injuries were reported.

IDF soldiers quickly opened chase after the shooting. During the chase, the suspect got out of his vehicle and began shooting at them. The soldiers returned fire and killed him.

The terrorist was identified as Mojahed al-Najjar, a resident of Silwad, according to Palestinian reports. The terrorist is suspected of involvement in several attacks in recent days, according to the IDF Spokesperson's Unit.

Last night, Najjar posted “It is my time to meet God” on Facebook, according to Palestinian media. Najar spent 11 years in Israeli prisons and was released from administrative detention in May, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Information Office.

The IDF is searching for additional suspects.

Settlement targeted by two other shooting attacks in past week

Ofra has been targeted by two other shooting attacks in the past week.

On Monday night, shots were fired toward the IDF post next to the settlement. On Thursday night, shots were fired toward a bus near the settlement.

No injuries were reported in either attack.
