US soldier pleads guilty to charges for trying to help Islamic State

A US Army soldier on Wednesday pleaded guilty to terrorism charges for attempting to help Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (Islamic State) conduct deadly ambush on US troops in the Middle East, the Department of Justice said.

The soldier, a man from Ohio, pleaded guilty to attempting to provide "material support" to a designated foreign terrorist organization and trying to help the Islamic State to attack and kill US soldiers, the Justice Department said in a statement.
