Yad Vashem awards prestigious Holocaust research prize

Yad Vashem's International Institute for Holocaust Research has awarded Dr. Laurien Vastenhout and Prof. Edward Westermann with the esteemed International Book Prize for Holocaust Research. Dr. Vastenhout, from the University of Amsterdam, is recognized for her work on Jewish Councils in Western Europe during Nazi occupation. Prof. Westermann, from Texas A&M University-San Antonio, is honored for his study on alcohol's role in Nazi Germany's mass murder.

The awards were determined by an international panel, with finalists including Dr. Yechiel Weizman and Dr. Anne-Christin Klotz for their Holocaust studies.
