Cabinet OKs Health basket expansion

The cabinet approved on Sunday the recommendations of the public committee for the health basket for this year, adding 83 medical technologies and indications for drugs that the health funds must supply to relevant patients, at a cost to the Treasury of NIS 3 million.

A total of 110,000 people will benefit from the addition of some more expensive drugs for a few and other, less expensive, ones for a larger number of patients. The committee of 18, who were all volunteers, approved the list of technologies from among 700 that would have cost NIS 2.5 billion if all had been added to the basket.
