Castro discusses 'nuclear winter' with US academic

HAVANA — Fidel Castro participated in a scientific conference with a US researcher on Tuesday, discussing the threat of a "nuclear winter."
Alan Robock, a professor in the Department of Environmental Studies at Rutgers University, spoke with Castro during a meeting in Havana.
The pair talked about the catastrophic effects on global climate change that could be unleashed by nuclear war, state media said.
