Coalition requests probe into Barzilai ER delay

The State Control Committee announced Sunday that it plans to ask the State Comptroller, Mischa Lindenstrauss, tomorrow to investigate delays in building a new rocket- proof emergency room at Barzilai Hospital.
The planned ER hit headlines last year in a row over ancient graves on the site. Although the bones were excavated and moved to another site, work has still not commenced on the site because of budgetary delays, the committee spokesman said Sunday.
In a debate scheduled for Monday morning, the committee is to discuss the issue with Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman, Deputy Finance Minister Yitzhak Cohen, hospital officials and officials from Ashkelon City Hall, and ask the State Comptroller to investigate why the Finance Ministry and the Prime Minister’s Office have not transferred the necessary funds to build the emergency room.
