Dichter says Islamic Jihad may respond to Gaza attack

Former Shin Bet chief Avi Dichter warned that Islamic Jihad may try to return fire onto Israel an IDF strike on Gaza, Army Radio reported Thursday.
Earlier on Thursday. a number of terrorist operatives were killed in an IAF air strike on a car in Gaza City. One of the men killed was a senior commander in the al Aksa Martyrs Brigade, Fatah's militant wing.
"We're talking about a central figure. I wouldn't be surprised if they will try to to fire on us, even if only to show symbolically that they haven't given up," Dichter said.
Dichter may have alleged that Islamic Jihad would respond and not al Aksa because the latter group is too small to carry out a forceful response, according to Army Radio.
