Egypt: Officials ask to transfer ailing Mubarak to hospital

Egypt's prison authority on Tuesday requested permission from the Defense Ministry to transfer former President Hosni Mubarak to a military hospital due to his deteriorating health, Egypt Independent reported.
On Saturday, Mubarak was injured when he slipped in a prison shower, according to Al Arabiya, citing Egypt's official MENA news agency. Mubarak reportedly was treated for a head wound and bruising.
Egypt Independent reported Mubarak had several fainting incidents over the past few weeks.
Mubarak, 84, ruled Egypt for three decades before a popular revolt removed him from office on Feb. 11, 2011. He is currently serving a prison sentence for his role in the killing of protesters during the uprising that toppled him last year.
