Egypt's newest newspaper 'Al-Tahrir' hits the stands

One of Egypt's most famously silenced pre-revolutionary critics of the Mubarak regime has made a comeback in Egypt with a highly-anticipated post-revolutionary newspaper, Al-Tahrir.

Named after the central Cairo square that housed the 2011 Egyptian revolution, the newspaper aims to attract young Egyptian readers who "lost faith in the print media because it served the regime," executive editor Ibrahim Mansour told Egyptian Daily al-Masry al-Youm.

Chief editor Ibrahim Eissa is a famous Egyptian journalist and critic who was silenced by the Mubarak regime several times prior to its fall, most recently in October 2010 when he was fired for attempting to run an article by Egyptian presidential would-be Mohammad elBaradai.
