Erekat says PA approach to negotiations with Israel hasn't changed

Erekat says Palestinian

The Palestinian approach to resuming negotiations with Israel hasn't changed, according to chief PA negotiator Saeb Erekat. Israel Radio reported that Erekat, who accompanied Mahmoud Abbas on his visit to New York, seemingly did not have high expectations regarding the tripartite meeting between the PA president, US President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu set for later in the day. Prior to the three-way meeting, Abbas met with US envoy to the Middle East George Mitchell in New York to discuss a potential renewal of negotiations. Mitchell met Friday with both Netanyahu and Abbas. On the Abbas meeting, Erekat said that the Palestinian side "once again reiterated that there are no middle ground solutions for settlements." "A settlement freeze is a settlement freeze," concluded Erekat.
