EU nations will discuss the bloc's defense policy Monday amid escalating tensions between Iran and the West over Teheran's nuclear enrichment program and its short-range missile tests.
Last week's revelations that Iran has been secretly developing an underground uranium enrichment facility, followed by Sunday's news of the missile tests, have pushed Teheran to the diplomatic center stage.
While Iran is not on the agenda of the two-day meeting of EU defense ministers, European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana will address ministers before attending talks in Geneva on Thursday between Iran and the five permanent Security Council members and Germany.
