Fibromyalgia to be recognized as a disability for the first time

Labor, Social Affairs and Social Services Minister Meir Cohen announced on Tuesday that for the first time in Israel people suffering Fibromyalgia — chronic muscle pain — will be recognized by the National Insurance Institute as being handicapped.

Fibromyalgia patients will now be designated as 40% handicapped and will be eligible for a monthly stipend, Cohen said.
